Digital reading room

Our Digital Reading room is a separate website along our regular website. Access to the Digital reading room is directed via the search options in the online catalogue in the frame at the top right corner.

In the Digital reading room you have access to an increasing number of digitized collections and reference works. Over the next few years even more sources will be added. At the moment our Digital reading room gives access to the following collections:

  • Newspaper cuttings on births, marriages and deaths (up to 1970).
  • the oldest obituary cards.
  • the Algemeen Politieblad (periodical of the Dutch police; 1852-1888).

To consult the sources in the Digital reading room you need a userís account. For most of the information a userís fee is required (so-called 'units').

To view and download images you need Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader. You can download this freeware from the homepage of Adobe.

We have an instruction manual for use of the Digital reading room.

When searching the newspaper cuttings on births, marriages and deaths in our Digital reading room you may feel the need for translation of some Dutch words into English. In the menu under Digital reading room you will find a section with Dutch - English vocabulary with the most important words for this collection.
