My father's last name is Hoogakker. His mother is Maria Catharina Zandvliet born Leiden November 27th 1923, married Leiden October 8th 1947 Albartus Hoogakker born Leiden August 22nd, 1922. They moved to Pretoria, South Africa after WWII where my father was born, and then they immigrated to Canada, arriving February 1961.
I do not for sure know who Albartus's parents are though I have been given a strong possibility from www.Hoogakker.info. He apparently had at least 2 older sisters.
I have been told the following from a Bert Zandvliet in Bavaria:
that Maria Catharina's parents were Petrus Hermanus Zandvliet born Leiden 1893 - 1970, married Leiden 1922 Jannetje Haverkamp born ?
Petrus worked for railroad and they had 3 other children:
2. Jacobus Pieter, born Leiden August 27th 1925, lives as far as I know in the town of Leidschendam, married Leiden December 27th 1956 Christina E. Zaalberg, two daughters Inge 1957 and Karin 1959.
3. Piet (known as Peter), born Leiden October 11th 1932, lives as far as I known in the town of Heemstede, married a woman named Goldstein (I have no date or first name), a daughter Mariella and a son Martin Pieter Frits 1975.
4. Catharina (could be called Tinie), born Leiden October 11th 1932, married Leiden September 24th 1956 to J.A. van der Niet, don't know if and if so, where she lives.
**********
I have been asked by my father not to directly contact his parents and probably also shouldn't try contacting any of their living relatives as long as my father's parents are still alive, but any assistance or suggestions in how I might learn more about my ancestors Hoogakker, Zandvliet or Haverkamp would be accepted graciously.

Sorry about the above post. I know it's long but I tried to format/space it better, but that was overlooked when actually posting it. I can also add that Albartus Hoogakker studied at the Royal Academy in The Hague during WWII. |
